People, hi! As You already know the «Blagoe Delo» team has been developing the project of independent living for the people with disabilities since June, 2018. The project is executed on the basis of assisted living in the training apartment, provided with the help of the Novouralsk municipal government and the Ministry of Social Policy of the Sverdlovskaya region.
In simple terms — we have a flat, where our friends with physical and mental disabilities learn to live on their own — to cook, to do the shopping, to enjoy public spaces — cinema halls, theatres or museums, to manage their money and to acquire teamworking skills for their work in art studios.
Over the past two years there have been 22 disabled graduates from our improvised school-apartment, — residents of Novouralsk, Yekaterinburg, Verkhniy Tagil, Nizhniy Tagil and the Verkh-Neyvinskiy settlement. Six of them are inmates of closed-type institutions — residential care facilities for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Three of them stayed to work at «Blagoe Delo», and the two — Nastya and Veronica, whose stories we had already told, took the next step — independent living.
We are eager to develop this project further the more so because a two-months time is not always enough for the full training course. We are planning to launch a new season already in May.
